Happy, Joyous and Free

Tue Mar 17, 2009, 9:19 PM
Hey kids -- I had a pretty awesome weekend. I don't know if I can even convey how life changing it was. I'm totally excited about life in general and filled with a sense of peace. I did a workshop with a couple of speakers going through the Big Book and it was incredible. It changed a lot of my perception for the better. I feel so wonderful. On Saturday night I looked up at the stars and started crying because I want everyone in the world to be able to experience this great feeling of complete OK-ness. There's a renewed sense of purpose to my life. I love it!

I'm also continuing to read Mark Oliver Everett's book "Things The Grandchildren Should Know" and it beautifully heartbreaking in it's truthfulness.

On top of it a friend finally got me to listen to Dr. Dog and now I'm all addicted and happy about it. Dr. Dog probably sounds like a rap act -- the unholy union between Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg... But they're a totally mellow rock outfit that we actually saw briefly at Lollapalooza. Kind of folksy, sort of like a reincarnation of The Band and introspective, calm Led Zeppelin. You know how old country is actually palatable and even good, (not the new shit of today -- that's painful), Dr. Dog listened to that music growing up I bet. Like Jeff Tweedy and Wilco listened to that stuff growing up. And when they get inspired by it, that kind of makes me want to cry in a good way. Which reminds me, I think I sat up for about three hours listening to "In A Future Age" from Wilco's "Summerteeth" album one night. It was amazing.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Look for more butterflies soonish because I've got a bunch of them finished.
xx
